Pirate Daze:🏴‍☠️Westport’s Most Swashbuckling Weekend in 2025

Every summer, the quiet coastal charm of Westport gets a bit… rowdier — in the best possible way. Enter: Rusty Scuppers Pirate Daze, a free, family-friendly festival that turns the Westport Marina into a full-on pirate playground. Just steps away from the cannon smoke and sea shanties? A little treasure trove known as Sea Bird Gifts & Candy — the go-to Westport candy store for saltwater taffy, handmade fudge, and a whole lot of local flavor.

The When…

The annual event is held the last weekend of June and brings together pirate crews from across the Pacific Northwest — costumes, cannon fire, and all. Yes, there are actual cannon firing, but don’t worry — no ships are harmed in the making of this event.

🦜 What Can a First-Timer Expect?

Costumed Pirates Everywhere:
From full pirate regalia to kids with eye patches and inflatable swords, it’s a costume lover’s paradise. No one will blink if you show up in boots and a tricorn hat — in fact, you might just get a “Yarr!” of approval.

  1. Live Cannon Battles & Encampments:
Historical reenactors go all out with staged skirmishes, cannon firings, and interactive pirate encampments. It’s loud, dramatic, and totally unforgettable.

  2. Live Music & Fire Performers:
Think sea shanties by day and fire dancers by night. There’s music, dancing, and enough pirate-y pageantry to make you wonder if you're in a movie.

  3. Vendors, Food, and... Rum?
Well, not real rum (this is a family event after all), but you will find plenty of pirate-themed merchandise, crafts, and eats. And if your crew needs sugar instead of grog, we know a little candy shop that’s just around the corner... 😉

  4. Kid-Friendly Fun:
Face painting, scavenger hunts, and plenty of space to run around. Pirate Daze is rowdy, sure — but it’s more “family festival” than “mutiny on the Bounty.”

🍬 Bonus Tip from Your Friendly Neighborhood Candy Shop:

After you’ve hollered your last “Avast!” and clapped along to a round of sea shanties, make your way down to Sea Bird Gifts & Candy — we’re just a short peg-leg shuffle from the marina.

There you’ll find the legendary “Paula’s Porch Pirates” holding court right outside the shop. These lovable scallywags are famous for tossing out goodies to kids — from plastic doubloons to candy treasures — and yes, saltwater taffy gets flung with alarming enthusiasm.

It’s part performance, part tradition, and totally Westport.

Inside, we’ve got over 60 flavors of taffy, handmade fudge, and gifts that range from “nautical cute” to “weirdly perfect.” Whether you're 6 or 60, there's something for every would-be buccaneer.
